About me

A Gemmologist by profession and a descendant of the Peshwas.  I have a keen interest in history and archaeology. My mantra is to take Maratha History to every corner, beginning from our own state, to India and beyond. Through my posts, I would also like to talk about Pune's forgotten heritage. Currently I am studying for a Masters in Indology, with the quest to know more about our past. Starting another blog known as Heritage Diaries...in which I will write about sites and there importance.

It great to know that you intend to preserve the Maratha history. Hope it will not fade with the times and reminds every indian about its glorious past.

Great job at capturing the glory days of Pune. Although in the U.S. for over 45+ years, I am a Punekar who attended schools and colleges in Pune with descendants of Peshva sardars. Thank you for doing this. Thanks for sharing information on Patwardhans and others.

Grace I had some how gulped down the discrepancies in the overtly manipulated script n story of Bajirao Mastani by the very Bhansali who made the Porn-Leela, had in it as opposed to the real story. However VaatLaaglì song is just the last straw on horse back. Even we maharashtrians, not belonging to such a renowned family, even in today's era, do not use such deprecating language n hereby the great hero is shown to b shouting n bragging of such horrendous lingo. Certainly the bumpkin actor 'd have given no thought n apparently Bhansali sports childishness coupled with knacks of how to make people squirm in his head, bit I wonder no one else opposed in the making!

Hi Dear, Nice Blogs.

Just one suggestion!!
You should not call any Peshwa just by his name. Instead use Shrimant as prefix in front of the name, as a sign of respect, as Shrimant Bajirao Peshwe.
